You are Limited as single pilot to 8 hours of flying in a 14 hour charter(part 135) duty day. That includes all commercial flying. Any flying for the company who is paying you must cease after 8 hours of flying.

Repositioning in this case would certainly be a violation. Plenty of pilots have been fired for it, and violated for it.

Neither can your company legally direct you to fly longer, even if it is without patients or med crew.
