... work at the base all day for Part 135, then take the Part 91 at the end of that Part 135 portion since Part 91 has not limitations.
You are not limited to 14 hours (i.e., there is not 24 hour lookback for 10 hours of rest) under Part 91.

However if you plan on flying part 135 the next you need 10 hours of uninterrupted rest. Flying, driving, swabbing toilets, it doesn't matter. If the company requires you to do it it's part of your part 135 duty time and you cannot take a part 135 duty period without 10 hours of rest. I understand that the garbage operator you flew for didn't care and you were too dumb to defend your rights, that doesn't mean it was legal. |

So if you're planning on working Part 135 the next day it still counts towards the lookback. It's really not that hard. If your jobs requires you to do something it's duty and you're not flying part 135 until 10 hours later, no matter what your paramedic area manager says. If your operator is hurting so bad that on your 7th or 14th or whatever the end of your hitch is they have you ferrying aircraft around past your 14th hour it may be time to start looking for a new job. |

on Part 91 ref: pilot rest is looking back time of wakefulness. Guaranteed if the pilot flies and hasn't had rest in, say, 20 hours, it could be investigated under Careless and Reckless operation. 16 hours of wakefulness is generally considered the cutoff concerning effective pilot attentiveness to tasks at hand. My guess! |
