Draw your own conclusions, but this was a tragic event that should have never happened.

No conclusions to draw. It’s black and white. Guy didn’t have a license and took everyone onboard with him to their fate. More money then sense, and what’s even worse is that family besides him are all in the aviation scene down there.

IF, he had a student pilot cert then he was licensed. The Feds considers a student pilot license indeed a certificated airman. Can he fly passengers? We already know that answer and no debating that point, he exercised terrible judgment, reckless behavior and paid the price.

A student pilot's license is a license to learn how to fly, not one that says you know how!

Go back and read the first reply. He states he did NOT have a license. He did a have a student license. Do a google search and you will find the FAA considers student license a "License" and the trainee can be allowed to fly solo. What is so hard to understand about that?

Regardless of what its called, you don't earn it through training and study, you send away for it, like a pair of x-ray specks, lol.

1826L the guy lands next to a restaurant. Almost two and a half hours later he departs. Got to wonder if alcohol was a contributing factor.

Local folks say he and his family were Pentecostal so probably unlikely. No one has come forward with actual facts that he did consume alcohol that evening.
