Patients wait 4-6hrs for a transport by ambulance in our area to transport hospital to hospital. Better hope you never need an air ambulance to transport your loved one. Just say you want an ambulance. |

it would seem you are on to something, but, not so fast. Air ambulance is more about decreasing morbidity, not mortality, as decreasing the former can drastically decrease the cost and suffering to a patient about to lose a hand or whatever and all the attendant aggravation, expense, and work/personal lifestyle change to the patient and families. Death? Darned nice to save a life but the aftermath of that not occurring is emotionally horrendous, but not necessarily as expensive as losing a hand, or becoming totally incapacitated yet still alive. Point obviously is air ambulance value is not straight forward. |
