From those who've flown it, what do you like about it?

Fast, smooth, and powerful even at MGW. We loved everything about it except it sucks fuel like crazy.

I would suggest a Augustia A-109 it much better machine. It is more fast and have  better glass panel and look more good.

How far you need to go.  If in the US, 7,000 MGW is a significant limit if you are filling the tanks up/going actual IFR with required reserves.  For shorter distances its good. Relatively fast and big cabin.  Bell has tried three times unsuccessfully to get the MGW up to 7,500 with the FAA.

San Juan is correct, I second his idea 109 is the way to go. In regions of the USA IFR reserves can't be met. Then fixed wing is the way to go.

hours in the 109. Yeup, right on the button, 2,000.  If you have a reasonable pipeline to spare parts, daily technician inspections, and follow the recommendations and requirements for care and lubrication the thing will do you well.  It's a combination of technologies from old to new so the operator/pilots/technicians get to deal with it all.

Problem with Leonardo is support.  Either parts availability or service.  It's not the 109 but the Navy's 73 (AW-119) has had more than its share of off the assembly line issues.  (TH-73's) Some other entities as well to include issues with leaking fuel cells, a/c not working properly, avionics not talking properly to Genesis, tail rotor issues, main gear box seepage,...  Attractive, yes.  Fast, Yes.  Fuel consumption, avg for weight.  If planning on flying single pilot, you may want to review wt/bal if doing loads.

The 119 is a tail rotor away from being a good helicopter even with its cramped cockpit, it will get you where you want to go.

I borrowed that quote from a 119 mechanic. Probably one of the best mechanics I have worked with. He absolutely hated everything about that antiquated tailrotor.

The tail rotor is maintenance intensive. A teetering trunion design that requires repetitive disassembly for inspection and hand grinding shims when centering is needed.  No elastomers used like an AStar which is a much better design for that kind of system.

What’s wrong with that tattoo? I thought it was nice! So did the rest of the night shift.
