You do realize that people have a tendency to "over state" things right? A quick Google search and read some pro pilot forums and you will find the " average " netjets FO maled 101-128K. Either this person is not average or they are stretching things.... Also 1st yr netjets FO is not a 1st year position. Probably at least 3-5 years into a career at a minimum. Most helicopter pilots are not far off that number at the same point in their journey.
Ive found I'm a lot happier in life if I just focus on what I enjoy and don't bitch about what it looks like someone else is getting. Especially on "self reported" things. Ever paid much attention to a FB feed. What you see is often far from reality... |

so all the helicopter salaries on the net are likely "overstated" as well? or is that different? are we just more honest than the airplane people? |

was somebody's first job. also most helicopter pilots will never make much more than that first year net jet FO. why don't you mention what the five year net jet or airline pilot is making. you wouldn't enjoy it. |

the airplane pilot goes into a jet and makes 100K plus a year, stays in nice hotels and works a true 7/7
the helicopter pilot goes to the gom or tours and makes 75K or so, lives in a dumpy trailer and commutes on his own dime.
in 10 years, the airplane pilot is making 250- 300K and still staying in nice hotels
in 10 years, the helicopter pilot will be lucky if he makes half that and still living in a dumpy trailer.
but yeah, it's all the same when you "do the math"

Theres more to life than just money. I'll take as much as I can get but I enjoy my job and it works for my family. Chasing the dollar usually doesn't end in happiness. |

No thanks. I'll do my 21/21 in my small world |

I flew 6.4 hours yesterday at my side job flying FW. Total of 10 hours on duty if you include my commute time. Boring as hell. I could work one OT shift and fly less than 3 hours in the day. and make $300 more...

Because I have always had a job as a helicopter pilot. I've watched a lot of FW guys go through jobs through furloughs, lay offs, and the such. |

3rd year, widebody, reserve by choice. Haven't been to work since the end of March. Min guarentee pay + company 17% direct contribution to 401k = 22k/month... sitting.at.home. Yes, its a horrible life. |
