A crooked helicopter pilot just cleaned out a gold miner's sluice box, but before he could make his getaway and get into the air, the enraged gold miner managed to grab the tail stinger without turning into hamburger as you were pulling pitch.

Could he prevent you from taking off and getting away?   What would you do?

Holding the tail skid, (stinger) would not prevent take off. However, a tail rotor strike on a human body would probably result in uncontrolled rotation and a crash.  A fenstron tail rotor would fair better.

I honestly don't know.   External forces play havoc when it comes to R/C.   (at least light ones)

First, we have to suspend reality a bit to believe he is able to grab the tali stinger and assume the aircraft is already airborne because most stingers are going to be tough to grab when on the ground.

Second, it depends on the aircraft on what happens next. In general, the extra weight from a person hanging on will not over power the rotor or the engine. However, the fact that they would be hanging at the furthest point on the aircraft the moment would shift tremendously forcing the pilot to apply far more cyclic than normal. Some aircraft may react better than others to that.

In reality, a pilot would probably not be able to respond to such an unexpected change. So the prospector miraculously graps the tail stinger without hitting the the tail rotor. Amazing. But then the aircraft crashes tail first onto him.

rock into the tail rotor. ain't nobody going anywhere after that. grabbing onto the stinger would not lend any credibility to your story.

I'll play.  It ALL depends on the type of helicopter, fuel load, and CG.  case by case scenario
