For an wrenchs/avionics types/Pilots...109S/SP OEI switch is not letting me go into OEI. Won't stay. Move it to either engine and it pops back to center. Suggestions? |

We had a pilot who could not start his engines. He could get the first one going no problem....the second one was always giving him issues. He kept writting it up.
We CND. Other pilots CND.
Turns out when we sat in with him to watch how he was fkin up, he was quick tappin the second engine switch, which turns out to be a square momentary sugar type back lighted switch that then energizes a latching control relay that initiates the start sequence.
Quick tap was not the way to go. One needed to P-r-e-s-s the switch all the way in..... and then release after a 1 second-ish hold.
Signed that $#!+ off as Normal Ops. Pilot retrained. Good to go.
And you guys wonder why I call you idiots.

best to have a look at how he was trained, or was failed to be trained. Little issues like that tend to show up elsewhere. But hey, who cares, eh? |

train a new hire in the BK117A4. Doing line training it was obvious he didn't even know how to match the engines. Little issues, and big ones. QC. In those days the TC could also do the check ride. Mind boggles. |

Could be:
bad switch mechanically. If the detect is worn it may just be popping out of OEI training mode
could be electrical. System could be sending conditions to come out of OEI mode if available try to engine mode panel. If not check wiring for short. |
