I am starting to see a pattern at my company where pilot and non-pilot area managers are compromising safety to keep up in service time and flight volume because their pay is tied into it. This creates pressure to fly and or pressure to fly unairworthy aircraft. There are more than a few area managers that don't care what you do to stay in service and get the flight. I'm sure there isn't a single pilot on here that would ever succumb to such a thing but there are pilots that might, and it's dangerous.

End financially incentivizing flight volume and in service time pay for anybody involved in operations.

It's not just the area managers. I know of two aviation managers and one director who have also crossed the line for pressure to fly. I assume higher ups are bringing the heat on the middle management personnel. 15 years and I've never seen anything like it. Teetering on bankruptcy will do that.

You see a problem and don't work to resolve it?  What're they going to do, send you to the sand box?

- Positive customer reviews - Lowest pilot turnover - Lowest safety violations or highest safety improvements to the base or operations - Highest amount of PR's - Highest amount of additional classes or other voluntary professional development courses (granted the company would have to offer them or incentivise a program that has them) Other ideas? Those are still measurable and would drive improving the mission effectiveness, safety, and quality of life

The other option is to dime them out with the FAA.

Agree 100% any form of financial compensation or influence can have a negative impact on the overall safety aspect of an operation.  Any matrix you apply can have some sort of negative connotation.  They all boil down to flights/mission capable or completion rates.  Those rates in themselves can be twisted to appease those above.  You could be plagued with the "hangar bird" or lack of material support (parts), weather, personnel issues (to include mechanic availability),...  Even outstanding tenure does not reflect the "perfect" scenario.  Crew could be there just because the location fits their personal agenda where the job is just a job.  Even customer reviews can be misleading.  The bonus can be a double edged sword.
