As the title says, I left the industry around a decade ago, I was working for Airmethods at the time. I haven't been back here for a really long time, but I am working from home today and bored and logged in.

It doesn't seem like much changed, same complaing about AMC. Same MIL vs CIV stuff, robbie arguments, etc..

How has the pay changed over the last 10 years? I hope you guys are making more money than we were ten years ago. How about safety? Any tangible improvements for pilots?

I hope things are better than they were, fly safe everyone!

I wonder how long you were writing before you will understand that you are supposed to put punctuation at the end of your sentence?

I worked at AMC for 7 years.

I guess nothing has changed ! Still more worried about periods at the end of sentences than context.

Wow!  How were you able to get along without insights from The Texas Talking Tom Cat, Bear, and the Sabine Pass guy?

A little over 10 years ago AMC hired me on for around 60k? Now I believe the starting pay over there is now $86k minimum plus a $15k hiring bonus? (I left AMC after a year)

Other changes since then: 10 years ago NVG's were still being rolled out to every base, now they're ubiquitous with the real high achievers getting the white phophorus ones.

HeliSAS on VFR singles was rare, now it's not so much. With that CFIT has been declining. Popping into the clouds isn't quite the death sentence it once was.

Crash resistant fuel tanks and ADS-B on just about everything. (Does anyone not have them?)

Might be company specific, but sim training in level D sims is more of a thing vs controls and a screen in a trailer. Trips to flight safety or an equivalent are to be expected.

This might be more company specific too, but it seems to me like 10 years ago it was more common to have high time employees in the more desireable bases. Now we seem to turn crews over after 3-5 years, med crew especially.

The flying is the same. They call, we haul, the crew complains.

good synopsis.  If you use inflation calculators with local adjustments applied manually the compensation scale has really not gone up much.
