History is something helicopter pilots rarely study. Night time, no references, mountainous terrain, black as black can be, likely no NVG's, less than favorable ceilings, probably no autopilot, and to top it off VFR. |

A Warrant Officer pilot would have completed a rotation at the NTC During his/her career. That's the same area that this crash occurred in. No one flies in this area without NVG's. It's dark at night with no illumination. The "Warrant" would have turned this turd down. These folks were following the freeway with 2% moon illumination at night in marginal weather. Absolutly a civilian trained pilot. BTW, NTSB briefing stated a PIC and a "Safety pilot" were onboard. Smells like a 135 operation that also trains pilots by having them fly 135 flights with a "Safety pilot" onboard as the actual PIC. Just saying. |

How would you know?
Crazy assertions like that prove only that you don't do your study.
Helicopter flying is far more complicated in decision making than other forms of aviation.

Straight into the ground...the Nigerian banker had to make it to the SuperBowl to give away millions of dollars. Really sucks that the pilots were pressured into flying. |

The passenger is responsible for all aspects of the flight.... Says no regulation. The PILOTS had no business flying an EC-130B4, at night, in the High Desert, in mixed precipitation, regardless of what the NTSB ultimately determines to be the cause. If the pilots succumbed to pressure, then shame on them and our entire community for not standing up for what is right. |

Just maybe, flight schools should start teaching pilots proper ADM...you can still tell the girls at the bar you're a pilot if you refuse a flight...HEMS guys do it all the time when they would rather sleep at night. OOS. |
