Straight from the CBA:
"Any disputes relative to starting Base Pay shall not be subject to the grievance and/or System Board of Adjustment provision located elsewhere in this Agreement."
If AMC is desperate to fill a base, they can offer any step, with no recourse from the union. So negotiate whatever you want. |

A new hire today will be making $100,861 in 6 years, assuming they start at step A. If they negotiate step D then they'd be at $117,993. Straight from the CBA that is publically available.
Unless you have some crazy knowledge I'm not privy to that completely ignores the CBA. |

The new hire pay scale increases at the same rate as the annual step. So, essentially, someone hiring on today will still be making new hire pay 6 years from now.
