Msg ID: 2802030 GMR Retention Bonus +1/-6
Author:10K In the bag

So as of today those of you who signed up for the GMR retention in Aug os 2022 now have $10K which the headshed is holding for you. On this day next year that will increase to $20K, and on Jan 1st 2026 $40K will be paid out. How many of you might have planned a move or retirement are planning to stay because of the bonus?

Roll on Jan 2026 :-)

I'm betting no one will see a dime. With KKR's debt payment coming due they will weasle out of paying it and there is no contract or agreement signed to hold them too it. You've been played.

But I've heard that you will be automatically disqaulified for the $40k if you make a slight mistake on your RA, CF, RAMCO, or miscaculate the formula for executing an autorotational test flight.

The employees were promised to be paid a wage (bonus) for staying with the company.  Those are now employee wage claims, which is first to be paid.  CBA or not, those employees already worked for that compensation.   So, regardless of the CBA, they would be paid.  Each employee would have a separate claim to the bankruptsy court for wages earned here!  And, they don't need a union or a CBA for that!

CBA doesn't make it any more secure than other employee contracts. If bankruptcy can ignore the one, it can ignore the other

Totally depends on what type of bankruptcy they choose:  pre-packaged, pre-arranged, free fall.  And if they want to impair claims and have a creditor committee, which takes longer and costs more for lawyers, etc.  For AMC, harder to get rid of CBA which has specific protections in bankruptcy code.  For GMR time will tell, but any payment due will not be protected if they want to get rid of it.

It's a work contract for wages already earned.   It's owed money to employees.  They don't cast that off in a bankruptsy.  It's the first thing paid!

GMR had over 400 pilots when this offer was put into effect. Should 50 % be the after three years thats alot of dollars.

$40,000 x 200 = $8,000,000

Do you think this was a wise investment?

Under Chapter 11, the court could tear up the existing CBA, but it can't tear up unpaid wages/compensations!  Employees were not investors or lenders, they get paid first for wages promised/earned!
