So I got me a pacemaker.   

59 years old and my heart had been beating perfectly my entire life woke up one morning and it was beating very erratically.   Had a ablation and woke up with a pacemaker.    Thought my flying career was over.  

90 days (waiting period) later I took a Bruce protocol stress test and a 24 hour Holter monitor had my doctor write a letter submitted to the FAA and 60 days later went back to my AMEi and had my second class medical back on a five-year special issuance.    The reason it was five years was that my AME could issue for five and every fifth year it had to go to cardiac board in Oklahoma City.     

Anyway I found out they were literally several thousand pilots out there with pacemakers and it wasn't really a big deal to the FAA.    Just have a few extra steps to jump through every year but doesn't seem that bad and for all intents and purposes I don't even know the pacemaker exists I do not feel it.

Glad to hear you are still up and running. My first brush with cancer was "bladder" and like you it required the walk through OAK city. I found that as long as you clearly covered all the FAA bases then the issuance was not too stressfull. It has been more that 14 years ago now but my actual down time was about 5 months with a few hoops to jump through each year.

Would love to know how many shots the OP got and what kind, and if so the timeline from shot until this event.

I am really the original poster and never vaccinated. Never have never will won't let my family won't let the family dog get vaccinated.

I am the original poster and I was never vaccinated my families never been vaccinated and my dog has not been vaccinated and none of us ever will be.
