Wondering if any U.S. EMS helicopters have any de-icing or anti-ice installed on their aircraft? We're a northern climate EMS operator who would benefit from it, but don't have it.
Asking for a friend... |

RIPS system was initially proposed but due to the amount it would decrease an already lower useful load than its C+ and ++ predecessors it was never offered on the D.
For helo known ice cert in the US I'd venture it'd have to be a 139 or larger. The only 139's that come to mind flying HAA in the US are in southern / warmer climates. Anyone know of 139's flying HAA in cold climates in the US? |

NJSP & the De-Ice on the AW139 was a total bust!!! ERA had one in Alaska, never used it & sold the A/C. GE Corp flt dept. had one & de-energized it because it was a bust. Turn that A/C into a nightmare for Mx. AW products suck as does their support too!!😎🚁✈ Yeah more from emoji boy, suck it too the @$$ 🤡 who can't take them too 😁🥳 |

I smell a medic.
nomenclature is different anti ice, de ice. Two different animals
The UH-60 had problems with anti ice the military gave up on it by disabling it years after it flew with the system. |

De-Ice is heated Type I
Anti Ice Type IV is a mixture depending on temp ratio & has to put on W/ Rotary pump. If a Centrifical or High Shearl pump , it'll decrease the Shearing effect of the non-newtonian fluid. |

The -64A had blade de-ice that worked really well when the blades were new. They didn't stay that way for very long. |

You must be a Mayo person... All the money in the world and still can't actually do any flying with it since your management is so screwed up. Anyway...
Most De-ice, Anti-ice systems for helicopters are way more Mx heavy then they are worth, not to mention all the extra Regs that need to be implemented. Every helicopter I've flown with Anti-ice has had the system deactivated or removed because it never worked in the first place. |

only good ice is found in a skating rink. Blade device is a problem looking for opportunity. What about airframe ice? Horizontal stab ice? Not a simple subject, don't recommend messing with it. |
