Story for you halfwits.  Since you seem to really love DME.

Once upon a time in 2011 these "seasoned expert 20 plus year" 76 pilots wrote up the DME.

I put my test box on it.  It passed all the checks.

Then I tuned onto the local VOR VUH and sure enough...no DME.

Then I got online, found the NOTAM talking about how the DME for the KGLS VOR was gonna be out of

service for 2 weeks due to them performing maintenance on the Transmitter.

Printed that off and slipped it into the log book with a big fat COULD NOT DUPLICATE s/o.

You think them idiots with all that experience could have keyed the radio and asked tower if something was up with the station......nah...

Or maybe checked the latest NOTAM...nah.

Or maybe even tune up whitelake, Trinity, Sabine pass?? ...Nah.

We just write $#!t up.

Pretty bad when the Avionics guru has to do his job and your job too.

You're welcome.

Morons

Had a similar issue. EMS program pilot has dispatch page me in at 3am for "radio issues". Arrive at the base and he squawks both VHF radios don't work. I asked how he came to this conclusion. His reply was he tried contacting the local airport control tower with no response then he tried another smaller GA airport on Unicom with no response. I informed him the control tower closes down at midnight and there is probably no one using the Unicom frequency at the GA airport at this time of day. BTW both radios checked out. Corrective action, "Could not duplicate discrepancy".

combat vets actually would have thought that through.  Should have shared that process with the kids, though they would not have listened.
