They'll keep your feet dry and comfortable, and they should last 10 - 12 years.  Been doing this for 40 years in all climates, and I always come back to Danner boots.

Any good hiking boots. I like soft soles so I can feel the T/R though the pedals. But still meets the power company's requirement for ankle support if I had to hike.

Boots with ankle support/protection. The Southeast has briars, other vegetation that can be an issue without protecting legs.

A wise pilot understands that you are one maintenance problem from being a hiker.

Penny loafers, light weight, quick to put on and easy to kick off when you hit the coach.
