Seriously, at one time there were discussions relating to helicopters. Now, I don't know, but it sure seems to me to be nothing more than a union bitch session, constantly.

109 does nothing for this industry. There hasn't been a contract for a while and the only thing it's done has continued to let air methods fall further behind. The reality is Air methods pays poorly and the only thing they lead the industry in is job openings. A new contract isn't going to suddenly push them to the top. At best you might hope for parity when the others bump up and leave you behind yet again. Helicopter unions have no teeth. Never have and as a result are a joke. |

When 109's first contract was approved, all local HEMS pilots got a raise to match.
That contract also pretty much reduced pilot turnover by 90%.
That negotiated agreement was good for the company and good for pilots. Unless you have labor contract specialists on your payroll and an extensive legal staff, organizing your fellow pilots to negotiate as group with a union's support is your best chance to improve your work conditions. |

Or I just work for an operator that pays me my worth and didn't require a third party to handle my compensation negotiations? Maybe it's because I don't work for a company where I'm just seat meat with an employee number. |

or when I was in EMS I never made less than a step 10 pilot at AMC even in my first year.
your union holds you back and locks you into bottom feeder pay. Next you'll tell me you only work 6 months a year and pretend you don't work a years worth of hours in that 6 months? |

the only thing about me that might be above average is my unwillingness to except a s**t job for s**t pay. I never stopped trying when I could've just phoned it in and taken the easy way out. I left EMS out of boredom. I guess I lack sympathy because I don't understand the lazy mentality. I view the union as sitting on your a** and letting some hack negotiate for you. You want it, go get it. If you want to phone it in then you do you but stop crying about trash pay and employers. |
