Our medical crews have a passion for helping the critically injured and sick. You all have a passion for flying and operating state of the art helicopters. My colleagues and I have a passion for being the people in charge and putting the ingredients together. We are the alphas. We have a passion for making a lot of money as well. This keeps us all employed. As long as each element focuses on their passion, the machine works. The moment one element starts to drift into the other, ie. Pilots wanting to make business decisions, the machine breaks down. Keep your head down and do your job, I'll do mine. Fly safe.

You have no real authority, you relay the orders/policies of the real managers and are an instrument to absorb the blame when things go sideways. 

You enforce policies, the Alphas make the policies.

Essentially hes telling pilots that they are only valuable as long as they do their jobs and don't question authority.

Whatever the reason, the message is harmful and unprofessional and creates a climate of fear and mistrust, which could lead to safety problems.

It is important to note that not all HAA managers are like this. There are many HAA managers who are respectful of their pilots and who value their input. However, this message is a reminder that leadership is still a problem in the HAA industry.

Pilots like you are key perpetrators. 

I do need you to stay in your lane. I'll offer a counterpoint, a manager must not meddle in pilot affairs. Must not get into the particulars of how they do their job professionally, only whether they meet the business standards. We tried that and stepped on our own phallus. We tried to set the rate of descent limit on approach, and we became the laughing stock of the inustry. 

The machine runs smoothly with each element doing their own respective job. 

You remind me of my ex wife. Unmanageable. Emotionally reactive rather than logical. 

Any complaints against my managers or my management style go into the special filing cabinet ie the trash. We only address complaints that affect the bottom line. 

Good theory, but in the real world it doesn't work that way.

You only have a job because we do the dirty work. You could make more it you are nice and say please. If you do we will take more flights. You know the ones that could really be taken but are turned down, well, because you are a Johnson.
