Isn't it around $50-60K for most LEO pilot jobs? I don't think they've seen the increases the rest of the industry has...

If they have an opening, it should be publicly posted.  PD should be able to answer your questions.  If you are shocked by troll answers, this site might not be for you.  Look at pay but also benefits and retirement plans are often better than most.  Also do you have to go to an academy? Do you have to work the car for a period of time?  Are there residency requirements?  Mesa might be ok, often big city PDs mandate you live in their crappy cities.  I did not look to see if this is an Officer Pilot or Civilian pilot so FYou on that.

This site has become JustTrolls.com.  Which in the proper amount is part of the show but the amount, and lack of creativity is disappointing.

There used to be consistent humor here (and there is sometimes), but people are more sensitive now. Too much time in isolation and everyone is on a screen nowadays... people can't take a joke anymore or just continue to do/say stupid things. Picture of a truck... the stupid $3.50 comment... sexual preference of Robinson drivers...bash mil guys... BUT, there's still enough aviation wit and "latest goings on" to keep me interested. There is also the OCCASIONAL good discussion about certain aviation and industry topics. And for all that an anonymous forum does, it does feel like a place to "speak freely" compared to one where your name will be cancelled by sensitive/reactive/immature responders to all future posts. Plus, you can be funnier sometimes when anonymous. Bring back the humor guys!

City of Mesa salaries are public, so here's where to find it, and the answer to your question:

https://apps.mesaaz.gov/jobdescriptions/documents/PayPlans/AlphabeticalListing.pdf

Civilian Police Helicopter Pilot: $79,159.60 - 88,572.85

From what I understand they hired their first civilian pilot in quite some time either late last year or early this year as a kind of pilot program to see how it went. Seems like it's working out pretty well, but just an FYI you'll be coming in as an outsider, and likely taking away a TFO's chance at getting into flight school. I'm not saying this to discourage you, just give you a small insight to how you may be seen if you decide to go that route. Seems like there's some great people on the aviation side of Mesa PD though. I think they're in the process of converting thier last 500E's into 530F's, but I'm not an MD guy so I don't know all the details.
