Depends on location. At the 145 facility in Shreveport they work Mon-Fi. In the field there is everything from 8&4, 10&4, 10&5 and all Regional Rovers and AOG teams work 20&10. 7&7 is extremely rare on the maintenance side for some reason. All though almost all pilots have 7&7 shifts.

They hate 7/7 because the mechanic might actually enjoy his life a little. Just be happy with your couple days off a month and shut up. Just another helo company ran by arse//holes.

Our guys at my base do a 5/2, with one week "on call" every month. Usually show up around 6am and work until about 10am, then unless there is something going one they usually go home /d ick around for the rest of the day. Knowing they will need to come back in should we need them for something. On days / weeks that heavy mx is going on then they are expected to be there 5/2. But, whenever heavy mx isn't going on it's a pretty sweet deal.

Your Maintenance Guys are fortunate to have more than one base mechanic. Alot of us do not so there is no rotation for on call. The only time I'm not on call is when my relief guy who is just part time shows up.

But find out you have no work life balance due to no days off as advertised, it's your own fault for staying. On-call can wear you down quick also, and it is very popular.
