F35 Lost How does this happen
Please call in if you find it
Authorities have asked for help from the public in order to locate the $100million military aircraft which was flying over South Carolina when the Marine pilot made his swift exit. It is now feared the jet could still be flying as there is no evidence that it has crashed as of yet, and the pilot set an automated flight system before ejecting.
The Joint Base Charleston said in a post on X - formerly known as Twitter: "We’re working with @MCASBeaufortSC to locate an F-35 that was involved in a mishap this afternoon. The pilot ejected safely. If you have any information that may help our recovery teams locate the F-35, please call the Base Defense Operations Center at 843-963-3600." |

Big deal. I took them 2 hours to find a jet that flew 200 miles, roughly 30 minutes, after the pilot ejected. If you remember there have been several military pilots killed in the last month after failing to eject. I feel pretty confident the USMC is placing an emphasis on pilots getting out of a sick airplane before dying for their country.
By the way, I guess the deadly midair in Reno was Biden's fault. Quit hating and get real. |

I know nothing of fighter systems. It seems that a seat ejection would also be linked to an automatic engine shutdown and probably a GPS beacon. It is South Carolina however and plenty of dense forest land. Jeez... I got drunk and fell out of my boat and I pulled the engine stop |

An eject sequence trigger an engine shutdown cycle?
Explain your logic...
So you want to get far far away from a burning or otherwise failed aircraft ...why would you want that aircraft to go thru a shutdown sequence after you violently exit thru the canopy? So it can circle back around in a dead stick spiral dive and crash on the spot where your parachute just placed you?
F-king morons on this site I tell ya...
Yeah....let's put a beacon on it too so the enemy can find it before we do.
Wow, you must be a helicopter pilot. |

go through an engine shutdown cycle sequence after the violent ejection sequence because it could landed on the chinese guys head before he could take it to cuba. think about that, sheeple |

Well I did say I knew nothing about fighter planes. I do however know that South Carolina is not currently a combat area and it is within United States public airspace so I don't see much reason not to have a crash beacon active.
I don't see any potential of a broken plane turning and crashing on an ejected pilot. I do see plenty of bad potentials of an un-piloted plane continuing flight assuming the engines were still powered.
Seemed like an easy question. Does an ejection shut down a plane? If you don't know you aren't the correct person to answer.
yes, I am a civilian helicopter pilot. |

From an unconfirmed source, this F-35B was one of three that had an auto ejection (non pilot intro) implemented into the software. Your point of orbiting the sequence area is quite valid. Imagine being over hostile territory and the computer senses a major issue. For whatever reason, the pilot either being task saturated or incapacitated is unable to pull the handle. The computer runs through the process and "bang" the jets are fired. Ground troops are going to have a major advantage finding you as your jet orbits overhead while you tride to evade. |

Ever look into a lot of the Submarine spying that's gone on in history?
My vote... The pilot programed a predetermined point for it to fly to, punched out, let it fly to that point and crash where a Russian / Chinese sub was waiting to retrieve information from said crash. Give it a couple years and I bet Russia will have a strikingly similar looking aircraft out flying. |

I know of an airline that, 9 years later, still hasn't found their 777 with 239 people on board (I know, i know...big ocean...but 9+ years?) so i'll spot the Marine Corps a day or two finding their missing F35B deep in the woods or at the bottom of lake. Happy to hear the pilot got out. |
