People in here despise AMC union without realizing, if and when they get raises that will put them above GMR, what do you think GMR will do shortly after that. I started in EMS in 1995 with AMC.  It was a single pilot IFR company.  You had to have a 4 year degree, you couldn't smoke, you needed to have a minimum of 3000 hours, and you had to pass an iFR check ride every 6 months.  

We had no sick leave.  No overtime until you worked 21 days, then it was just straight time.  Vacation could be taken if you could get your own coverage.  If you were liked, you could never get fired.  If the ops manager had a hard on for you he would come in and fire you overnight.  Pay sucked because most pilots were retired military.  I'm not sure I really got a raise, it didn't matter, it wasn't much.

It pretty much stayed like that until the union came along.  I wasn't a fan and didn't vote for it.  But it really changed the industry.  Now everybody in the business had to match what the AMC contract said.  They never really did that much better then the contract, and still don't for the most part.  They meet it and rarely do better, until time had passed and they catch up.  Love it or hate it, everything you have now, whether you're with AMC or not, is because of the union.

You needed that because that was the discriminator used when there were too many pilots (supply) for the need (demand).

Unions didn't change that fact.   When the supply of pilots became less and less, pay and benefits started going up and up.

Same was (is) true in the fixed-wing side.

When I joined the military, I needed 20/20 vision, high ASFAB scores, and a good work ethic; and the pay was pittiful then too.  

If the 109 secures raises of 10%-20% that means gmr will match plus more. If the 109 secures nothing, than gmr gives the minimum raises they have to, to just stay ahead. this is a game of leap frog with companies. This is what any employee wants to companies to do!!!! Stop being stupid 

... of leap frog had credibility, then you'd recognize that its because you are a UNION you are below non-union companies (who are not burdened with all the other contract restrictions).  

So, again, if you want MONEY MONEY MONEY, what you willing to give up for it?   Becasue it is all the other things in the contract that tie the hands of the company from upping the pay like their non-union companies can do.

Pilots want 40% just like the UAW.   I think Helicopter pilots could pull off a sucsessfull strike, where as, the UAW will be without a paycheck for a long time - before Auto makers will concede to a small increase that won't cover the lost pay from time off.

a little investigation.  Go back to 1970 to the present day and look at helicopter operator pilot annual salaries.

Notice what happens when unions hit the field.

Yes, unions don't sound worthwhile and far from what should be but if you look at the salary growth, or almost total lack thereof, you'll notice union value, and management 'mismanagement' of pilot compensation.

This will definitely be worth you effort.
