The report says the logbooks were never surrendered. which tells me the serial numbers on the components are unknown. How hard would it be for the FAA to get the repair shop to produce a copy ? What would prevent the current owner from overhauling the components and or parting out the components ? Is there a component historical record or could that be faked ? This sounds like someone is on the verge of going to prison.
