AS 350/135/145/365 series helicopters, do they have to have silicone on the top of the main rotor pitch rods to help prevent water getting in for corrosion protection.
Was there an AD for this? |

Check the respective AMM chapter and consumables list for what type of sealant should be used. It's purpose it to prevent water penetration past the threads and causing internal corrosion of the pc tube. |

No idea if an AD started it but on the 145 they have to be sealed at the top. From memory the book calls for e43 wacker (fancy RTV that doesnt cause any corrosion) |

Wow, who would of thought that the mx guys give the straightest answers.
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the Coast Guard loose a couple of there aircraft for that very thing, hidden corrosion in the pitch change links.
There is an AD for putting alignment marks on the threads to check for loosing, AS365/Ec155 had a problem, I believe the AD came out in 2022. |
