They already have a bill in the house to update Medicare and Medicade. They aren't cutting it, just hasn't been updated since early 2000's. The NSA needed to happen. Basically, AMC went from making $250 million every quarter to making $90 million every quarter. A significant drop, but they are still making money. Since they are for profit, they will scream the sky is falling because they want their massive profits back. Now they have to run the business like a business. Can't put a helicopter on every corner and have to be strategic with locations.
The $1.4 billion dollar debt coming due Q1 24 is from American Securties taking a loan to buy AMC at the height of their profits. Well, they ain't making those profits anymore and can't afford to pay back that loan. They will declare chapter 11 and reorganize the debt and life and AMC will go on, or more than likely, sell the company off like what investments companies do. |

Big Al tried to throw his own money into who the company owed money to in an effort to retain some ownership after the ch 11. The courts refunded his money and he was out. Suddenly we were owned by a company that never wanted to own us. They tried to sell us, didn't get what they wanted, and the squeeze continues today.
So, we weren't sold so much as we were given to an investment company to try and satisfy the debt we owed them. |
