I wonder why PHI went to the expense to dig up the concrete?

Scorched earth policy, make it unuseable for the next operator. Next vendor will have to start from scratch.

Best memory of working maintenace at the Bristow Base there in Sabine Pass was when working the eveinng shift, at least one night on it, we would all go down to Sartin's Seafood and have the platter service.

As the years have rolled on I can only remember a few names these days.

Rick Jackson

Bill Flynt

Ray Harkins

The land owner, who lived in the house beside the base was down behind the base where he had a hog pen. He was intecting the hogs when he slipped and injected himself in the leg. He died in that house a couple of days later from the infection.

I could arrive at work early in the a.m.. walk down to the grass where the helipads start, and hear them coming.

Then working nights with the bug zappers going. Would sweep up such a pile of them at the end of the night.

Sabine was the PHI base a new hire mechanic tried to install a tailroter on a mesquito sitting on a helipad.  He would have got away with it but a senior mechanic walked by and noticed the tailrotor was installed backward.

Worked there in the early '80's.  Mosquito and gnat hell.  Great crews and Stony was a pleasure to work with.
