Sounds crazy, but a senior airline captain friend says I would have no problem and could possibly be making way more money in my 60s. How is that even possible? Give me the short version....

Corporate flying - yes you would probably make more $$.

Airline - not unless you enjoy being the junior man jumping through hoops to get your 75 hours a month for a couple of years.

I would recommend that you just go for it. Now is a great time for fixed wing pilots old and new.  Good luck.

Have an interview with a major. Will probably get it if they don't bulk at my age. Everyone is desperate for meat in the seat. with summer coming on.  Was on the bucket list since a kid until I got reeled into helicopters 30 years ago. Yes, nothing but Shiny Jet syndrome. Do it for a few years, make some decent money and get out. It's possible. Helps to have an unrestricted ME-ATP. Okay, all, bellow away.

I have a bit over 15,000 hours in helos and about 1,000 in jets. Last year, a few months before I turned 64 was called by a headhunter for a Regional to see if I would be interested in flying for them. I reminded them that in a bit over a year I would be 65....They didn't care. Would be happy to have me for that amount of time.

I'm 65 flying a Citation Sovereign and an S76 Part 91, making 200K a year, and no plans to stop until I turn 75. Have a friend who is 81 who flys a Soverign only.

Longevity in employment is much better in fixed wing.

And being a dual pilot is a lot like a float plane. Doesn't make a good plane, doesn't make a good boat. So you're either better at flying jets or the 76, but you're a master at none.

I fly all three up here in AK. Jet, floatplane and helicopter, and do quite well in all three

The ignorance of this board never ceases to amaze
