95% of all bird strikes happen at 1500' and below.
So these HAA pilots run around at 500-1000' all day/night long like they are still in army combat.
Why not fly at 2000' and reduce your chances of hitting a bird by 95%
Why so low.....Because looking cool to the med crew flying low is better????? |

I fly around at around 1000-1200 to stay out of that way of weekend pancake eating armatures in their crappy old airplanes that never seem to know what their doing on the radio or where they are much less have any idea of other aircraft around them |

Your stats are wrong. There are just as many birds above 1500' as below. I' ve got 32 years experience to prove it. Too many times I have flown by flocks of vultures between 3000-5000'. there are even documented strikes at flight levels.

Fly along 500-1000ft except for landing??? Most GOM say min 1000ft. Most pilots in Hems I know usually fly 2000-3000 ft AGL except takeoff and landing. Your probably thinking of LEO guys. So go back to your mamas basement and try again |

Well I fly at 2k agl and above all the time to aviod birds and give me more options if my engine fails. I also choose wierd altitude like 2300, 2700, 3300, 3700 and so on to avoid all the idiots flying aroud at 2000,2500,3000 and so on. You enjoy your low level flying. I don't like it and I'm not worried about the enemy shooting me down. |

Med-Trans is an PT135 HAA helicopter company that opererats both stand alone and hospital contract helicopters. They were a good company until the D.O. started going rogue about 7-8 years ago. The D.O. lets the hospitals take over 100% operational and he covers for them under his D.O. title. Metro does the same. |
