Sounds pretty cut & dried to me.  Pilot made some unusual decisions at the end of a long shift, & fessed up to those decisions.   By the grace of God, every one survived.

It's intersting the speculation that this website puts out - 

 

"We suspect this may be just civil time as the pilot is a former USMC squadron commander."

"The closing remarks in the pilot’s statement might make some readers suspect they were intended to reduce the chances the NTSB might examine the organisation deeper and wonder if their had been any prior collusion on the statement’s contents or whether it reflected the thrust of initial investigative interviews."

 

 

Heck, the pilot says it himself - he flew it into the trees.  Very cut and dry.

didnt see the ntsb report but I wonder if HTAWS/Rad Alt/ground prox syst played a role or were disabled

Like when your computer need to be defragged, that whole system needs that!! India tech writes never communicated W/each other. They just developed their portion & it got thrown together. Hell english is their common language, they have so many different dialects.

is this "insurance group" appears to be staffed by big ego non-aviation types that rail on about "the pressures of the EMS mission", and that leads to 'a get the job done no matter the cost attitude', but then lament that there will unlikely be any recommendations coming out of the final report for this accident. I guess for them, more rules at any cost is the only outcome they would be satisfied with.

The pilot admitted his poor choices caused the accident. At least we know what his poor choices were.

me of a new regional aviation director who told us we all had to step up to the plate and do more OT to cover open shifts because our op couldn't afford to "pay for" relief pilots.  One savvy old guy set him straight and the two of us chimed agreement while the one remaining full time pilot looked on in disbelief at the disrespect aimed at the dizzy headed new guy.  The choking for words was amusing.  The old guy had no time for bs and was good at letting it be known when it surfaced.
