From my understanding, and I could be totally wrong. But we used to work closely with the Coasties and those guys have told me on multiple occasions that if there is a capable commercial operation working the same area the Gov is required to allow the commercial operation to do the work. If the commercial operation isn't capable or available then the Gov can do the job.

Either way, USCG has nothing to do with the original post about a Florida Guard, which is not a Federal Armed Service that MAST policy falls under.

okay so it's not the national guard but the website is super vague and the only requirement to join is the FEMA courses lol. it's some kind of weird desantos fever dream power grab. big surprise. doubt they'll get their hands on any helicopters.

As a dedicated Florida resource not to be called away by POTUS. It keeps Biden from a power grab over the FNG when DeSantis needs the FNG and Biden doesn't like it. Being a civilian non-military government agency, will they start flying HAA is th3 question.
