They were the top dog untill the ninety's but customer service was horrible in the noughties. Not sure how they are today but I dont see alot of MD's flying. At one point it looked like the MD900 Notar was going to be the go to for EMS, but as customer service faltered the EC135 took over. |

That's because you're in a sector that is sheltered and your little dainty hands couldn't handle a 500 doing real flying. |

The 500 is the pickup truck of the helicopter industry, it's powerful, precise, reliable and versatile. No do you wont see many at art gallery or VIP event...but check out a construction site. |

Where you actively work the aircraft as a tool. IE construction, putting out fires, Powerline maintenance, seismic, ag spraying.
what is not real flying....
offshore, ems, tours....glorified taxi drivers who know nothing about their aircraft limits besides what the "book" says. |

...is collecting a paycheck every two weeks. I've been a so-called glorified taxi drive for 30 years, and how my aircraft has served its purpose is irrelevant. What is relevant is the satisfaction I've gotten as well as the living it has provided me. |

MD all but forgot it's non military customer base. 500/530 parts became expensive and back ordered when the focus became supporting DOD contracts to support Apaches and what is basically a 530 with part numbers changed.
No that we've left Afganistain maybe civilian support will return. |
