So I applied to a type 1 operator with 1800~ hours and they replied back with an offer for a season, and it made me laugh. $65 an hour? is that what copilots make? I thought they have a program to get into the captains seat. How are you suppose to live off of $65 an hour? Pretty sure my times worth more than that.

Suck it up buttercup! When I first started flying offshore I made $1,600 a month before taxes with an $800.00 a month mortgage! Do the math! It sucked! Today's salaries are much better! Could be better yes but be thankful for what you have! Fire away Gen Z'ers!

$65 an hour X 12 hours = 780 a day. That doesn't count days you will work 14 hours. You are only going to work 60 days during the fire season unless your contract gets an extension. $46,800 is a pretty good paycheck for 60 days of work.

Maybe you should have picked a college degree that would have given you better opportunities in life.

$1600 PM starting? In 1976 I started an offshoe job for $955 PM, $11400 annual.  Of course things improved and I retired in a 6 figure job.  Started at the bottom, finished at the top.,

If any of your post is real, you need a reality check. A hot fire season could be your ticket to to the top tier

in fire fighting. Your pitifull 1800 hrs simply identifies you as a rookie with an out sized ego.

That is all.

besides, I don't think you would like fires very much.  It's not like an anonymous forum.  You'll probably get punched in the throat a lot.
