For scene landings when only one of the Med Crew are qualified in NVG's, which seat do you have the qualified Med person sit and why? |

Definitely the left side because that is your biggest blindside. |

your sitting on....that way your left and right side are covered...Medic/Nurse seat or not, the one wearing them should be OPPOSITE of where you are sitting....no point in them sitting on the same side as you in the back... |

The big three names in HAA have it spelt out differently in their GOMs. One specifically says it has to be on the oppisite side, another discusses both, and the last does not specify.

The STC tells you where the qualified crewmember has to sit. The GOM just says what the STC says. Do you know what an STC is? |

unless you're ready for the answer. there are stupid people in positions of authority everywhere, ready to give you an answer you won't like. an answer that will inevitably make your job harder.
it just ain't that complicated.
why do some of you seem to crave more and more policies and regulations? why do you need someone to spell out every last detail, wipe your nose, and lead you by the hand? you're the PIC...just do your job.

Definitely the opposite side to the pilot and up front when able. It's important to see as much going in to the scene so the pilot knows what to expect when departing and crew are busy with patient. What good is it having a Med crew behind the pilot looking backwards on approach. |

What shoes should I wear for NVG? I think I'll need to really have a feel for the pedals. What kind do you use? Have a link? |

But cut off the soles, so that you get a better control touch with the pedals. Don't wear any socks either. Make sure they are steel toe Corcorans as well. So says the New IP Guy. |

The consensus seems to be that the Med person should sit on the opposite side to the pilot. Is that written anywhere, do we have a reference? |

A single pilot professional pilot should be able to land a helicopter by themselves. If you need somebody to look outside for you maybe you should be landing in a bigger spot. |
