...anything except milking the AMC cash cow for as long as they can.  When the note comes due, they'll let the lenders have it.

How will this affect 401Ks. I left AMC a few years ago and like the investment mix I have with AMC. Any harm in leaving it there for another few years leave it or take it?

Your funds are secure with Fidelity, and has nothing to do with the state of Air Methods.

Amc has been a sinking ship ever since American Securities made the purchase. They put a cheese maker as CEO for gods sake. The curd king put a pack of witless incompetence in charge and since then only mindless yes men have been making decisions. American Securities buys a company, bleeds it dry, aftifically inflates its productivity and value then sells it. Funny thing is the regional VP's think they are cared for. They will be the first to be unemployed, then the regional managers will fall. I say let it burn. I would assume GMR will be the buyer. Its the only thing that makes sense.

The ELT used to be people who worked their way up through the ranks, so they at least understood the industry.  Now they're just a bunch of professional suits who are good at making themselves appear to be productive.

AMC is also heavy with middle management, there's a lot of fat that could be trimmed off.

I don't think they'll find a buyer at today's interest rates.  The VCs like to finance deals like this, they don't want to use their own capital.

You are correct.  When publicly traded, the stock price was about $55 the year before the sale.  The year of the sale, the stock dropped to $28 (the shorts had it going to $25).  Private equity paid about $43/share (a 50% premium over the $28 share price).  You would pay a premium for stock where the trajectory was upward- you would have to in order to attract shares.  But when the numbers are going the other (bad) way.....

That's not the worst part.  "Private equity" borrowed the money to "purchase" the company (the word "equity" is a misnomer, since many private equity groups borrow money to "purchase" companies).  Most commercial debt has covenants attached to it that requires the borrower to maintain certain financial ratios.  With lower reimbursement due to the No Surprises Act and increasing interest rates, this can be a problem.  So, in my opinion, the buyer paid too much and is now faced with problems with debt and reimbursement.   Plus, there is inflation in wages.

Here are a couple of things Aaron Todd said:  He wanted to keep debt at no less than 2 times and no more than 4 times cash flow.  According to Moody's, debt is now almost 9 times cash flow (so much for the term "equity" in private equity).  Next, he said the industry could do with about half the helicopters we have without degredation of service:  "And if you ask me personally, do we need 900 air medical helicopters to serve this country, I'd say probably not, maybe 500, 600 could do well, but it’s an open market, these are – we don’t have certificate of need restrictions."  This statement was in 2015 when we had about 900 helicopters in the HEMS industry (yes, I said "HEMS").

Well said^

I too recall having the same conversations with Mr. Todd.  He'd be sick to his stomach seeing the state of AMC today.  As we all are who've been around more than 10 years.

A tragedy is an understatement, to what the mgmt has done to this company.  Good riddance to all of em!!!

fix a 58% loss in revenue.  Too bad the management sucked the financial life right out of the co.  with bonuses and etc.
