If limited to a 3% increase annually, I would prefer take the .25% monthly or even better a 0.01 daily increase.

1.5% semi-annually will be 134.69% of your present salary after 10 years.

3% annually is 134.39% of your present salary after 10 years. Not a huge difference, 0.3%. 

A present annual salary of $120,000 would be $161,270 after 10 years at 3% annually, but $161,623 at 1.5% semi-annually....

If the interest compounds, 1.5% semi annually all the way, or smaller more often incriments.
