Went down aroun 0238, started looking for them when they didn't come home after their shift, had to use Life360 to locate their cell phone location, found them around 11 this morning in a cane field. |

If you zoom in on that flight path on google earth, there are 2 sets of transmission lines right where they crossed. My bet is they clipped a line. |

If you look at the Google Earth image.......see the road that extends from the (1) Highway number (to the left of the crawfish place)? That little road is access to a 311' MSL tower (294 AGL). Google street view shows the guy wires coming off the top at about a 45 degree angle. |

They put a description, but that's not probable cause. In this instance says TR struck a tree. My bet is still they clipped a wire as there are 2 transmission lines right where they were messing around. |

The charges probably won't stick but maybe they are just trying to deflect on the fact that the department uses no flight following during night ops which contributed to the delay in realizing they were missing hours after the accident. Who thought that was a good idea? |
