Worked at AMC and MTC.

both have about the same amount of daily administrative tasks.

i think all MTC acft have cameras in them. I think all MTC acft have autopilots.

there is a LOT less layers of management at MTC.

at AMC you'll get fired if the Med crew don't like you or you wear the wrong deodorant.  MTC claims to have a "Just culture".

im a lot happier working at MTC and feel like I'm a valued human vs at AMC I felt like a piece of machinery that got abused.

I make more daily pay at MTC.  It's unlikely to ever get questioned on weather calls at MTC.  At AMC there are non aviation people making operational decisions regarding acft ops.

peoplE seem happier at MTC.

Gotta disagree with some of the stuff you said.

With AMC unions, med crews are getting fired LONG before pilots. Only way you get fired from AMC is because of your own doing.

AMC never questions anyone on weather. Been there for 8 years and have NEVER had to explain myself once.

I anticipate some good pay raises from the new union negotiations. AMC can stonewall all they want. They wont stay in business though with no Pilots. More pilot openings than all of the med crews combined, and mgt knows it

My experience at MTC was hands-down, the worst I've had in this industry. This was five years ago. The current company I am with I have a strong regional manager that stands up for the pilots in a good working environment. The med crew at my present base are extremely easy to get along with.

I've only worked at MTC, but have friends who have worked at all the other HAA outfits.  I like it.  But like the others, the region and base you work at can make a much bigger difference than the 135 operator.  Things I liked about MTC, hiring process was quick.  Had a friend leaving the position, told his regional manager (RAM) and I had a phone interview the next day, offer letter came 2hrs later and I was on.  MTC has a nice new HQ in Denton TX where new hire was done, all flight training was in the aicraft (10hrs) vs sim.  I had friends who worked at Metro and everything was done including the checkride and NVG in the sim in Shreveport.  You than would come back to your base and get some stick time in a real aircraft with another pilot, but no EPs.

We are left alone, RAM rarely checks in on us unless we break something, I've never once got a phone call about wx turndowns, they do have to ask about duty turn downs but 30 seconds of telling him where it was and why the math didnt work and he checked off the box and was happy.  There is no one on the medical side that is involved in any operational decisions, at least at my base.  The software they use for everything is decent, they recently updated all the Ipads to the latest mini's.  They are ok spending money on the aircraft, when the ADSB out rules came along they could have cheaped out and put GTX335s or other ADSB out only avionics in but they spent the money for the GTX345 which was IN/OUT.  So now we have ADSB traffic/wx bluetoothed to the ipads along with XM wx on the panel avionics.

Safety dept is great, even though its gotten to be a bit larger of a company now that they are part of GMR I can still send an email off to head of safety, the CP or the DO and get a response back.  Everyone on the admin side that I might deal with for paperwork/software fixes is great, even IT is good.  My first week at my base i saw the WIfi was a cobbled together diaster of repeaters and junk from bestbuy and they had to restart everything multiple times a day.  One call to IT and they send me high end routers and WAPs without questioning it.

OCC is good, they dont bug you unless there really is a pressing need.  Only have had 3 phone calls from them and they were all much appreciated.  There are no camera systems in the aircraft that are tied to operations, you might see the Appareo vision 1000 cameras which started coming from Airbus in 2014 but those are only there for after an accident and write over themselves every 2 hrs.  However at heliexpo they announced they are going to put those cameras in that allow them to watch you in real time.

Recurrent training is good.  3 times a year you do something.  You got your 135 checkride and they come out to your base and do it, not having to fly to Denver.  Then night unaided training, go take an hr and do Eps and then you go to the sim in Shreveport for 3 days.  That get scheduled on your days off so you are making extra money during it.

Depending on which state you are based at you are also paid OT 1.5 for hours over 40 in work week.  So we get 8hr OT built into every paycheck.

Only one or two MTC aircraft have cameras.

100% of the aircraft have autpopilots though.
