Any idea what average component technician pay is these days? Over 10+ years making 40k. Feels like poverty wages |

You didn't mention what sector your working and if you are working under a 145 repair station or with you A&P on the 135 side. I am also 10 plus years experience on various airframes working the 135 side. My annual base salary is $100K before any overtime and I sleep in my bed most nights, I'd say 95% of the time. These days entry level, with no experience and your A&P is $40K |

I work for a small Part 145 operation doing component mx and we start our guys at that. To be clear, we take guys we steal from factory work jobs in the area with zero experience in component mx and start them at that.
If you have a repairman certificate or, in your case, years of experience, you could start somewhere between $55-$62K. Expect more than that if you have an A&P.
Guys typically either love the schedule, comfy environment, etc and stay forever or move on to doing some form of backshop maintenance for the airlines where they'll make at least $100K.

Worked for a Large part 145 repair station with repairman certificate making 75k and laid off after 15 years. Did fuel system, hydraulic, landing gear, main gear box, paint, upholstery mro and more. Took a job making 40k for a small outfit because I couldn't find much else at the time. Stuck for now. Sucks but gotta feed the family somehow. Discouraged |
