No big deal. All CA citizens deserve to own a helicopter.

No more moving trucks left in Califonia.  They will do anything to escape.

Lets not do that---then you have a broken window. Use battery locks.

to keep someone from stealing a helicopter is by having it in a secure hangar.

ABC.COM says it was a Bell 429 so I imagine it was an R-22!

"KCRA 3 has learned the chopper is a Bell 407 heavy-lift helicopter that can be employed for multiple uses, including firefighting".

Hope Capitol has good insurance.  Security at Sac Exec Airport is non-existent and always has been.  I'm sure the other machines have damage from incorrect start attempts.

This should be a good story once the criminal is identified. Disgruntled ex employee, angered compeditor, would be prison break?

In the mid 1980's a Vietnam Vet stole an Air Log helicopter from the base in Galveston and him and 4 others robbed the bank in Leesville, LA. They made off with $160,000. They ditched the helicopter in OK, i beleive.

robbery post was partially correct.   1st helo stolen was from Commercial Heli.  `the armoured truck got hung up in traffic, heist take was low..  2nd helo stolen was Air Log and they hit a S&L in the Houston area.  They made it to CO.  Get away was hampered by fuel cache being discovered by a rancher who used it on his ranch. Some of the wrenches at Commercia printed up shirts with "1st choice of helicopters bank robbers".  I used to have one.   Both stolen from Scholes too

Pilot was Jim Little, Google "Jim Little Helicopter Pilot" or find the book "Once a Hero". Worked with him @ Alaska Helicopters, if memory serves me correct, he was still employed by AHI at the time of the first robbery...

Didn't know it had 2 engines.  Got one started and rolled it on lift off.  Anyone can fly a helicopter.  They do it on TV all the time !
