Here's a first in my 60+ years of life. Received a W-2 from Air Methods for $5700 and change. Problem is, I never actually worked for Air Methods. Tried contacting them by email and voice to resolve it, receiving nothing in return. Contact the IRS direct?

.... technically didn't work for them, yet you did, like in a contract pilot or something as such. If you said, "I didn't work for them", or "I never worked for them" it might have been more than a technicality.

In all fairness, I should have known better to come to this rag for advice. I'll just work direct with the IRS and get it resolved.. This is definitely the last place I would come to for a grammar lesson.. |

Some of the responses are what is wrong with us as a whole today. Oh for heaven's sake you added the word "actually" (with the intent of describing you sought employment there but did not accept the offer) and it offended someone.
I would start with the HR at the location you applied. If no answer, I would continue up the ladder. May even try this AM HR number and see if they can direct you to someone willing to help: 303-792-7400. Hopefully you can get it cleared before getting the IRS involved but I wouldn't leave it out.

if you got corresponding cash for not being "actually" employed, it could have been a mistake. if you didn't get corresponding cash, then it could be either a mistake or something more than a mistake. but, someone will have gotten the cash that corresponds to the W2 somewhere. if it wasn't you, then it needs to be determined. they have you paying taxes (SSA, IRS, State) on that "income" you never got. if you don't get satisfaction with HR, you can try their hotline to grab someone's attention. |
