What is the schedule rotation?

It's a 10 week rotation on the schedule. You'll work 2 out of 5 weekends. Pay week is Wed-Tues so weeks that aren't your weekend shift is a combination of Wednesdays, Thursdays, Mondays or Tuesdays. People are pretty willing to trade and PTO accrues somewhat quickly.

Location, not the greatest. If you like bleak long winters, you've found your home. So at least they're making an attempt to compensate you for your misery.

It's an HBS program. It may sound enticing but you'll have remember that you're at the mercy of the hospital and their med crew. You may get along with everyone great for several years but all it takes is one wrong decision or someone's misperception and then you're easily set up to be voted off the island. Procee with caution.

I lived the research as I've worked at every possible combination there is for EMS programs. They are all the same. Working for a hospital with deep pockets can definitely have advantages but the hospital top dogs have little understanding of aviation, which can be a problem. The DO and CP are way down the chain of hospital management. As far as getting run off for med crew dram, no, that isn't a thing. Especially not at a program like Mayo. Lots of people on here just repeating what they read on here over the years pretending they know what they're talking about.

The thing they don't post in the description... Pilots are required to have 1 shift a week where they do nothing but administrative duties. They pull crew from the helicopter for the fixed-wing, leaving the pilot to sit around and do more base type duties quite often. They also will require pilots to float to the other bases or make pilots fly their helicopters to another base to provide crew coverage without any regard to where the pilot is actually assigned. And, yes... It's a hospital owned and operated system, so you have to deal with everything that comes with that. Good news is though, Mayo seems to have unlimited amounts of money when it comes to the program so you get nice stuff.

This is somewhat true but a bit misleading. As you can guess, the schedule requires a 5th pilot to cover 2 shifts a week. To keep them at a .9 FTE, they can get an office day or cover a shift somewhere in the program. Travel benefits apply when working at a different base. This position is not the 5th pilot. It's true the Rochester base loses the crew to fixed wing sometimes, but the pilot is typically left alone. Rarely are pilots required to float, but it's typically because their aircraft is out of service and there's an open shift with a crew at another base. 

Can someone explain how the schedule works. How many on/off etc and what about holidays and weekends, do new guy cover all of them?

Pay is based on years of flying experience - not years of EMS. We've had a number of new hires come in at the top of the pay scale.
