I make them earn their title. Every start up and shut down they read the checklist for me. May as well. The nurse can take care of the patient for the one minute it takes the medic to read the shut down checklist. What do you guys think? It helps them feel a part of things.

If and when the help misses or gives a incorrect check who gets blamed. A word of advise they will throw you under the bus if you have to  go over the list saying you have a mential problem.

You just started down an indiotic path of asking them to complete 2 pilot crew functions. I spent 10 years in EMS, if you either use or need a checklist to fly any ems helicopter single or twin, you are an idiot. An EC135 let alone a single engine is not complex enough for a checklist. I don't give a damn what the industry and your chief pilot says. You don't and shouldn't need one. You need a flow. Checklists are for private pilots and complex 2 pilot crew aircraft, period. On a scene call start up on a clear day in a simple aircraft you fly regularly, you need slapped. Keep the med crew out of your duties.

Fake news! This mentality will get you in trouble in corporate America! Using the Med crew guarantees high visibility in my checklist usage every single time.

It's rogue pilots such as yourself who do not follow the rules who are responsible for our bad reputation. Leftover Vietnam wannabe mentality.

many people don't bother with the checklist after they've been flying an aircraft for a while but this is the first time I've heard of someone advocating against them. There is no good reason for this and it's pretty much indefensible. Now that's what I call a horrible idea.

If this is true and not a troll, why take time from the patient. Who are you to say the medic reading your checklist is more important than patient care?

Use the crew for training purposes on non patient legs, otherwise do your job and dont interfere with patient care.

guess you've never seen litter shoulder straps not used, tucked under the mattress so they are out of the way?   Or, litter straps dangling from the stretcher getting caught up in the folding wheel linkage preventing them from coming down, or now going back up?   Never seen stuff fly out of the cabin door when they open it and get caught up in the rotor system, grounding the aircraft unitl a mechanic drives hours to inspect the rotor?  Or, getting stuck by a sharp disguarded on the cabin floor?   Or, flew with a huge pile of unsecure extra baggage in the copilot seat next you (and your collective)?  Or lost a medical narcotics bag out the helicotper when the door popped open??

All funny moments until it's you it happens to!

This thread is PRECIOUS. 10 out of 10 for humor, ignorance, entertainment value, and window into the industry.

Thanks to all for OP and all replies. Even the insane ones.

So says the New IP Guy. Posting from a new IP address every day. Unable to be banned. And if you were to ban this address, you would only be shooting yourself in the foot as you frequently do. In the process, you would be banning numerous aircrew that also post from this address. Ban if you must. Ban if it makes you feel good. But you are only hurting yourself.
