212/412 at 36 dollars an hour? A little low for wages?

 Yep. That's low for sure unless there's an incredibly high day rate or salary. Power line 500 guys usually get $65 per hour on the low end.  Although some companies pay zero flight but better salary.

Does it seem like more than few companies are not really understanding what's going on in the industry?

I would take 36 dollars an hour, if they paid for, all travel, food, gas to and from work, etc.  Put in 25-50K a year into a 401K, and when not flying be at home.
