POOOOR PILOT SKILLS AND DECISION MAKING...Don't care what experience he had...it went out the door when he made numerous bad decisions on that flight

So while you point the finger at something someone else has done... what have you done to better the industry and safety for all?

was lucky as I was in a 206 with just the bare minimum instruments. He had everything needed for IFR and still managed to screw it up.

Very simply...VERY SIMPLY...Ari was flying into rising terrain with an already-low ceiling: Recipe for trouble. He *SHOULD* have slowed down, but kept bombing along at...what...140 kts or something? So it's no surprise that he (ahem) inadvertently punched into that cloud, and then the unstabilized helicopter did what helicopters do when the "pilot" can't see out the windows: It rolled over onto its back and crashed. We can try to sugar-coat it, but Ari messed up, big time and got himself killed. Oh yeah, and some other unfortunate souls who happened to be along with him.

it was stabilized but he either turned the force trim off or used the release on the cyclic. If he had kept his hands off the controls, they would probably all be alive today.

Hadn't read where he went inverted !!! Conventional wisdom, which he lacked, said he flew IFR into rising terrain.  I personally think he thought he was somewhere else. We have all been in similar predicaments.

I don't think anybody knows exactly what the aircraft attitude was on the decent other than it was definitely nose down on impact.

nobody tried to sugar coat it. no, it wasn't an unstabilized helicopter but you're right about the pilot getting killed
