just wanted to ask if a full preflight is required if, for example, the aircraft hasn't been flown since our last shift. Is a full preflight check still necessary when we come back on shift?

How about you leave it to the professional pilot to determine if that is required or not...

I don't tell a nurse how to start an IV. That said, if I see blood leaking, after the nurse leaves, then I will bring it to their attention.

You could just politely ask. It might save the pilot's life. After all, we are all human and daily stress hits us without knowing it. I did a year of human factors classes. So, yes, do bring it to their attention politely or find out what Standard operating procedures (SOP) are. I personally always do a full preflight regardless, even if someone completed it just before me.

I have included a topical accident report. The first pilot said it was ok to go, and the second pilot seems to have just accepted the previous pilot's subjective decision. Guess who died?

The oncoming pilot assumed that the previous pilot's judgment call was correct, and the fact that he had started the helicopter. He may have been correct, but wx changes. What's good 10 minutes ago may not be good now.

Personal technique. 24 hours after my preflight, whether I or someone else few.it or not, I preflight it again. That's MY technique . YMMV. Check your company's FOM.

For HAA a preflight is required at the beginning of each 12 hour shift and a post flight is required atrer each flight.    The post flight is mostly also your preflight for the next flight less the walk around.

FAA requires a walk around before first flight of day flight, GOM requires a preflight when you come on shift. I have taking a flight when ariving at the base and just do a walk around if I checked it earlier that week. Then when I get to the hospital I preflight when you guys go inside.

You might live a little longer if you do a good preflight. I never trusted another pilots preflight and always checked over whatever the mechanic was working on.You never know what you will find.YMMV.

If you perform a proper preflight, you might live a little while longer. I never trusted another pilot's preflight and constantly double-checked what the mechanic was doing. What you will uncover is always a mystery.

No. If the machine is secure there's no reason to preflight.  Besides it the mechanics job to do daily checks.

But then again I'm old an just don't care. If it's starts I'll fly.  Thumbs down if you'd like. I also don't care about that

You want to retire from after 40 years minimizing maintenance surprises? Preflight every aircraft.

After that, carefully examine the aircraft as you walk up and then walk around. Your mechnic will appreciate it.

Birds love to nest in various openings, if nothing else.

Depends.  What does the RFM for your airframe require?  Many require certain things be checked before the first flight of the day with no reference to the last time the aircraft was flown.  If you don't comply with the RFM you can be violated by the FAA(long shot, but if they discover it they will.)  What does your GOM require?  If you are required to preflight at the beginning of every shift and you don't, then you could be discipined accordingly.

go outside the lines on a hospital helipad, the FAA will show up and cite you for careless and reckless for a runway incursion. btw, no sign off in my logbook, just times and landings.

If you answered this question, you:

1. SOMEHOW don't realize this is a bait post by a troll

2. If by some unknown world this ISN'T a troll bait, and you answered like a good boy, the rest of us will continue to hope that a step on your leadership climbing ladder brakes and you fall back to the floor where you should be.

3. Are hoping to get more than just a backrub from this "nurse"

4. Should maybe leave this industry and go to one where your co-workers enjoy getting thrown under the bus instead of having their back

5. Deserve a gold star
