Don't use our ATP privileges. Just some piggy backing off the airline Policies. Now folks correlate the ATP rating with the level of proficiency/accomplishment of a pilot. If the industry had an Art of War manual for heli pilots the first line would warn anyone against this assumption. Mike with a 9 incher |

If it is so easy to get, just go do it. Yes, the world is unfair. Some pilots have gone the extra mile and achieved the ATP rating. It does give us an advantage on the resume and in interviews. That is about where the benefits end in the helo world. Bob Loblaw, ATP |

I've had one for years. The commercial was pivotal as was the private, in terms of career/life changing. The ATP....not so much. |

I agree. What's with all the angst about having one or not having one? I have a helicopter ATP because I happened to have an opportunity to obtain one. Not like it magically makes me a better pilot or anything, but it DOES save employers on their insurance when I pick up side work. |

Exactly, it saves the employer money. Aviation version for the lame "CAMTS" sticker on your helo. Are you, or your company suddenly better with a ATP or CAMTS sticker? NOPE. |

Most of you steller pilots dont even know when an ATP is even required. Just like most helicopter pilots with an Instrument Rating never go into the clouds like airplane pilots do from day one. |

past in a far off place during flight tralining I ran to the hood, holding, approach procedures, inadvertent this and that and life got really real. Just couldn't see falling out of a cloud at my own hands. Paid attention, a lot of it, and carried it forward in to a 5 decade plus career. Instrument flying is a subject to really pay a great deal of attention to. |
