Could the faa close rlc down. This being there 3rd crash of the year
I thought things where so much better there now that they raised the pier diem. And pay mileage |

No. There is no magic number of crashes before the FAA takes action. Especially when the crash is outside of the control of the operator as in pilot error.
If anything RLC’s insurance company and customer pool will push any change in operations before the FAA. |

Customers will drive change. They likely will loose some contracts due to their safety record. they will offer the few customers that stick with them rates no one else will match with single digit margins and they will struggle through that way for a few years, and either emege from the ashes, or sell out. Its no fun, but every major company has been through it at some point, and its often not within the control of the company, so try not to judge, at least until there is some data to evaluate. |

The customers are the problem. They talk out of both sides of their mouth. The oil company CEO's and safety people pontificate about Safety being priority one. They talk about wanting safe operators. Then they turn their procurement department vultures loose on the transportation companies and drive them to cut corners or be forced into bankruptcy. The operators who have robust training on both the ops and maintenance side simply cost more. You want to be safe? Pay it. Sadly they care more about their bottom line than they do their own people. They can say what they want, but to the oil companies, the only thing that is finite is the oil reserve. There Is an endless pool of people. You are replaceable in the oil companies business model. That won't change. |

RLC was considered a pretty safe operator up until a few weeks ago. The oil companies gets bids and make their choice. Nobody is "turned loose on" or forcing anybody to do anything. You can be certain the RLC bid was the lowest and everybody knows why. The offshore helicopter business doesn't change.
You say operators must cut corners or go out of business and in the same breath you say there are operators that don't but cost more. Which is it? |

when a company chooses the cheapest option. If you want somebody to love you and care about you, get a dog, not a job. Cry harder about the RLC's and Westwinds being "forced" to run their business the way they do. |
