There is a great deal of institutional bureaucracy at AMC. Expecting 'major changes soon' is like expecting an aircraft carrier to do donuts in your yard.

Not soon enough we all hope!  And majority of the folks in Denver need to go, before the damage is too far gone.  Sadly however, we may be past that.

Until you realize just how many middle managers there are, the bonuses they get, how much random corporate spending waste there is.

Oh, and the crappy EMS pay too (doesn't matter where you are unless you're at an IFR twin program).  And COLA doesn't cover expensive areas too...

Most Pilots earn as much or more if your pocking up extra shifts ..

A lot of the Managers you talk about ,have gone back to flying the line. If you feel you are missing out ,  then go become a manger and have at it .. you may realize those bonuses don't add up to a whole lot after your salary.

There aren't too many RAM/RADs... but there's a crap ton of Area, Marketing, and other managers all over the place.  I've heard there are a bunch in Denver too.

It's about the return on investment and the AM brings in the money for the company.

The mechanics have a direct effect on the money train. You can't fly without them. You can fly without the AM

imagine working management as a RAD.  No clue how the successfu long-term one remembers all the baloney that goes along with the job.  Dealing with it has to take a unique individual.  I'll take a simple corporate job any day, or offshore, or utility, no matter the pay and bennies.  That pay package had better include some for of internal stock option, if such exists in private companies.

none of you seem to grasp the fundamental mathmatics required. Managers are required to coordinate efforts. The closer a person is to the bottom line, the more their contribution to revenue. The higher up the chain, the less they contribute as they touch more people but each touch is less; an inverted pyramid. At some level, the contribution becomes negligible...but, the pay received is high. So the question becomes, which level of management provides the least efficient contribution to revenue and thus profit.

my guess, somewhere in the middle...VP, SVP, EVP.... just a guess.
