It's true, it is irritating. Their GOM training program is top notch and I'm surprised their line Captains tolerate this. Wouldnt it be cool if ATC replied "No it's not" when they call for clearance on request? |

Kills me to admit this, buuuuut this used to be the exact phraseology taught at Whiting Field (where Navy, Marines, and Coasties learn to fly helicopters) during the instrument syllabus. "South Whiting Clearance Delivery, Factoryhand 11, Spot X, Information X, IFR to wherever, Clearance on request." I know it's not correct. Just pointing out that's where it might have come from. I know because I was a student and later, an instructor there. I'm guessing it spread to your company via one of us. Sorry. Didn't no any better until I started flying more IFR in the civilian world. |

when you have 25 or 30 aircraft on IFR flight plans with the same ETD. It allows Clearance delivery to set up a que with who's finished run-up and ready to taxi. At least it was that way back in the days of paper and hand flying. |
